The trip Home (Part 1): Selangor, Malaysia

Hi all! This is part 1 of a series of "travelogue" I embarked on during the past 2 weeks or so. In a way, it felt like Bridget Jones' Diary, a trip to strange new places, and from single to being attached. But more on that when we come to later parts when I was in Australia (most wonderful place in the world!).

Before I flew over the Pacific Ocean, I made a quick stop at my hometown. I live in Klang, Selangor. It's a small town where there are more modern facilities compared to the rest of the state. Selangor is the most prosperous state in Malaysia. Today it has the distinction of being the most populated state in Malaysia. The northern area of Selangor includes Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan, which is a more rural area. I rarely go there, so my folks figured it might be neat to tour that area after we drove my nephew to his grandparents' house.

Quick Math: How big is Selangor state?
Ans: It can hold 11 Singapore islands with space to spare.

However, Selangor's population is only 3.75 million, compared to S'pore's 4.35 million.

The moral of the story? POOR LAND DEVELOPMENT.

Ah, heck it. Just let the following pictures tell their story...

Pity we can't enter the lighthouse. The view from the top would've been great... Posted by Hello

This hill used to be a fort to keep watch over the Melaka Strait, which is just beyond the forest behind me. Posted by Hello

Sekinchan, where the majority of Malaysia's padi is grown. Posted by Hello

Guess what flower is this? Posted by Hello

It's Papaya flower! (who would've known?) Posted by Hello

I found these bird houses along the padi field. I thought farmers use scarecrows? Posted by Hello

That's all for now, folks. Next part: AUSTRALIA!
