(The movie opens in a suburban home, where, the heroine is having breakfast with her adorable son.)
HEROINE: Well, it's a peaceful day! No sign of any disasters!
SON: Mom, do you have a husband or romance interest?
HEROINE: No, Bobby, although I am a top scientist and very attractive.
(The phone rings.)
HEROINE : Uh-oh! I hope that's not a worker from the lab, calling to tell me about an impending disaster!
LAB WORKER: Trish, a disaster is impending!
HEROINE: I'll be right there! (To her son:) Bobby, you stay here and be vulnerable.
SON: Mom, will the disaster end up striking this exact house and placing me in grave danger?
HEROINE: Of course!
(We see an exterior shot of the White House. Inside, the president, looking grim, is holding an emergency Cabinet meeting.)
PRESIDENT: Haven't I seen that exterior shot before?
VICE PRESIDENT: It's the same one they use in the Tom Clancy movies.
PRESIDENT: OK, somebody set up the plot.
SCIENCE ADVISER: Mr. President, unless something is done, a disaster is going to strike in 90 minutes, sending miniature cars flying in all directions.
PRESIDENT: Ninety minutes! Why so long?
SCIENCE ADVISER: We need to build up the suspense.
GENERAL: Sir, we must launch a nuclear strike against Houston!
PRESIDENT: Why?
GENERAL: I hate Houston.
PRESIDENT (To the hero): Jake, you're incredibly good-looking. I want you to take your minority sidekick and get over to the laboratory immediately and develop a romance interest with the heroine. If this movie is rated "R,'' she can show her breasts.
HERO: I'll do what I can, sir.
(The next scene is in the laboratory. The hero and heroine are staring intently at a computer screen.)
HEROINE: . . . and so by using the mouse pointer, you can drag the three of clubs over onto the four of diamonds.
(A lab worker rushes up.)
LAB WORKER: Trish, the pantograph is giving us a vector plasma reading in the cosine range!
HERO: What does that mean?
HEROINE: Nothing. It's movie science gibberish. But it's time for the disaster! And my son is home alone!
(The scene shifts to the heroine's neighbourhood. People are screaming miniature cars are flying everywhere.)
HEROINE: This is terrible! Thousands of people are being killed!
HERO: It's OK! They're extras!
SON: Help! Help!
HEROINE: My God! It's Billy!
SON: No, it's Bobby!
HEROINE: Oh, right.
HERO: I'll save him!
HEROINE: Watch out for the special effects!
(The hero, dodging miniature flying cars, saves the son.)
HEROINE: Now we can be a family unit!
SON: With Val Kilmer? I thought the hero was going to be Tom Cruise.
HERO: He wasn't available.
(The final scene takes place back to the White House, where everybody is relieved.)
PRESIDENT: Whew! Although we lost 124 million people, all the main characters survived except the minority sidekick!
(The Cabinet applauds.)
GENERAL: So now can we attack Houston?
PRESIDENT: OK by me.

Love is in the air...
I'm updating my blog, so you might guess 2 things: 1) It's a holiday, or 2) I don't feel like working today. Well, you got 2 things right there. :P
February 14th. Valentine's Day. I used to spend this day every year, watching how people fork out their hard-earned money to the grinning florists. Long queues in front of restaurants. Siamese twins everywhere. I used to think it's a stupid day, and I enjoyed making fun of them. Well, this year is gonna be different. VERY different.
I was in Malaysia during the CNY holidays. On the 13th, I arrive in S'pore in the early morning, after a long and arduous train journey. But all that was swept away when I saw my dear after being 4 days away from her. Whenever I'm around her, I know for sure that my worries meant nothing. That's the magic of LOVE, I guess...
After church service and lunch, I went home to unpack my stuffs, while she went off to meet her friends. The main event's at night, so I better rest well and look absolutely 'tasty' for dinner. :P I bought some new threads in Malaysia without her knowing, so hopefully that'd surprise her. Can't wait for the night.
Night arrives, and I went to her place to pick her up (as should any Gentleman). I brought some Mandarin oranges for her family, since it's still CNY, and it helps in building rapport with my future in-laws. ;) My dear just reached home and had to take a bath, and since I can't help her with that, I just sat around with her mom. She was so kind, she even offered me soup and tea while I was waiting. When my dear was ready to leave, she took a bag along with my present ('Allegedly' at that moment), and her mom actually gave me some Mandarin oranges in return! Humorous in-laws... I'm looking forward to the future already! As we took the lift down, I stole a kiss from her. I guess our night started early for us... :)
We made our way to Black Angus at One Fullerton, where I had reserved a table by the bay about a month ago. On our way there, we saw the usual "girls with flower basket". She was fairly amused by people who actually buy from them. Hmm... if only she knew what's coming her way... :P
The evening faded the sun away, and the lights glittered along the river. The breeze ran through her hair like my fingers, and the remaining light of the sun shimmers on her face. Such beauty could only be rivalled with itself, for there is simply none other as fair. We placed our orders, and you may drool all over these delicious photos!

My Love! (NOT the New York steak, mind you :P)

My Teriyaki Steak.
"Ring......" My phone rang, and it's a private call, so I excused myself from the table, with my dear looking slightly puzzled. A few minutes later, I returned to the table, and tapped her shoulder from the back. She turned around, and was greeted by a bouquet of red roses with Ferrero Rocher! Oh, the look in her eyes... simply priceless! :) I'm sure my slight mischievious act had been forgiven... :P

Match made in Heaven! :D

My pretty honey :)
After the wonderful dinner, we took a walk along the bay. The enchanting night lights were amazing, as we held hands and simply soaked in the moment. We found a spot near the bridge and sat there. We huddled together for, like, eons, enjoying each other's warmth and company. We enchanged gifts there. She gave me a new bag, coz she knows that I always carry a heavy bag and my old bag doesn't have a shoulder pad. So thoughtful of her! She also gave me a visor, a souvenir from the Australian Open. :)
As for me? My mind don't normally think about practicality, so I just think romantically. I asked her to close her eyes, and showed it to her: an opal pendant that shaped like a treble clef. Sparks were flying, and the moment was magical. It would have been perfect, if the pendant's chain wasn't entagled and I could put it around her neck myself. Ah well, I guess that's another unforgettable event in our lives together, eh? :P

Bridging Hearts.

Lovely night view!
As you can see from the photos above, the very reason we stayed there for such a long time, before we decided to take a cab back before midnight. I sent her home first, and she rewarded me with another kiss, and an appreciative smile. I knew she enjoyed the night, coz I enjoyed myself tremendously too!
V-day, in my humble opinion, is no longer a stupid day. It's a very, VERY lovely day! The only problem is: if we are having a romantic time everyday, what's so special about V-day anymore? :P :P :P

The trip Home (Part 9): Food Paradise!
After 3 months and 8 parts, my December 2004 travelogue is finally coming to an end! For this final instalment, I've prepared a visual treat for you all. Close friends of mine know that I despise Singaporean local food. It's nothing personal; it's just a matter of TASTE. :P Well, here are the excellent food I had during my stay there. Don't drool over your keyboard (too much)!

Hainam chicken rice with rice balls.

Bak Kut Teh! The BEST is in Klang!

Niang Dou Fu!

Laksaaaaaaaa........

Dim Sum for less than RM 30!

Thick steak from Chili's, KLCC.

Wanton noodle with mushroom chicken legs (Don't forget the coffee!)

Fish 'n Chips, Lasagna, and two HUGE wieners. :P
Coming up: My first V-day!

The trip Home (Part 8): Pahang, Malaysia
Yo! I know, I know... I know you're thinking, "What? I thought his memory stick ran out of space!? How come there're still photos?" Well, thanks to the local photo shops, I burnt all the photos in a CD-R, and thus have space for more photos!
Not long after my return from Oz, my 2nd sis and her husband came back home to visit us. Me and my dad went to Kuantan, Pahang for some father-and-son bonding, since my mom wanted to stay home and accompany my 2nd sis and her cute daughter. We stayed at the Swiss-Garden Resort & Spa, right next to a marvelous beach. I'll let the pictures do the talking this time round. :)

Cloudburst...

... Strive...

... Emerge!

When the line between Heaven and Earth is blurred...

Lonely Crush.

Little Squirts.

Son of a Beach. :P

Monkey business (and NO, I didn't pay it to do anything...)

Life's a beach.

Light and Shadow.

Splash!

Art-sy :P

Beach walkway.

Somewhere, beyond the sea...
The next and final part of this long-overdued travelogue will be a special edition. I guarantee ya! Till then, BYE BYE!
